Local Industrial Retention Initiative
The City of Chicago’s LIRI program supports local industrial businesses by providing funding to nonprofit organizations which provide economic development services to companies that are located in designated industrial areas across the city. As a Local Industrial Retention Initiative (LIRI) agency, the Pilsen Chamber of Commerce (PCC) provides assistance to industrial businesses in the Lower West Side’s Industrial Corridor with the purpose of retaining those businesses in the community and supporting industry in the area. Through this program, the PCC identifies resources, assesses businesses, provides project support and helps businesses resolve related issues through one-on-one consultations. The guidance provided by PCC can then lead to completed projects, job retention and creation, leveraging public and private financing and neighborhood development. Through LIRI, business owners can request support with additional resources such as the Community Development Grant.
